wanderlust (new england style)

I've been scheming about little summer trips. since most of my weekends are filled up with weddings, I try to take little trips here and there during the week. I want to go to Maine, Cape Cod, and also a few day trips maybe to Rhode Island. There are so many quaint towns I have never seen. One thing I love about living in New England is you can be in New York City, and then two hours later be in a beautiful quaint New England seaside town. So a bit of wanderlust on the mind, but keeping it close to home... here are some fun links to check out over the weekend.

1. I saw this quaint tiny shack, and wanted to be there. How beautiful is that yellow set against the blue sky?

2. Something like this rustic cabin on the water, is what I was thinking.

3. Would you go whale watching on your honeymoon?

4. This house is famous. And you can rent it. Isn't it the sweetest? Also one of my favorite movies....

5. Nantucket is one of my favorite places. Here is a list of some romantic B&B's. 

6. What about Glamping? Not camping, but Glamping.  That airstream is pretty cool.

7. Or if you are more into luxury, this place has it all. And it's right here in Litchfield County. But which one would you stay in? I love the helicopter and the treehouse!

Nikon FG-20

Lets backtrack a bit, shall we? I finally had the roll of film developed that I shot all the way back from Thanksgiving. I wanted to pick up my original film camera. I shot the last roll of Kodak b&w film I had-they don't make it any longer, so I kind of held on to to it forever mostly for nostalgia. Most of these were taken in Ipswich, Massachusetts, on little neck, where we spent Thanksgiving. I just sort of wandered off by myself one morning and drove to the furthest point I could towards the water, and I couldn't go any further (later finding out it is called Little Neck). It was cool and somewhat windy, but I jumped out and took those few shots.  They are so grainy and moody, I think. The film was probably ten years old, so who knows about the quality, but it was mostly for nostalgia's sake. So mission completed.

Off I go to Atlanta for the week. Saying goodbye to fall in New England, and hello to sweet tea, cheese grits, southern accents, Peachtree Road (S).

autumn's golden light

Well, It's officially sweater weather in CT. As temperatures went from the high 70's on Friday down to the fifties, by the end of the weekend. This week I will be traveling to Atlanta, GA, so I will miss some of the color shifts. It has been way too long since I have been there. Peachtree everything, amazing cheese grits at the OK Cafe (can not be missed if you ever go there), my father's play, and visiting with family. I get to spend two whole days (and nights) with my sister, which I am really looking forward to.

goodbye september

Interrupting the wedding posts to bring you a few snaps of fall. I woke up this morning and realized that October is monday, where did september go?  I am also really excited about a project I was asked to be involved in for the month of October, which some of you may know is breast cancer awareness month. well hello there fall (color series)

All that rain + wind brought in a fierce change of weather. 60's today, with bright sunshine and a light breeze. With officially just three days till Autumn I noticed today the first leaves changing color. No matter where I have been, and where I have lived, nothing beats fall in New England. Nothing. I can never decide which color is my favorite, orange, yellow or red.

rainy day

Last year, not too far from a day like today it snowed. It snowed a lot. Today it is pouring and the winds are blowing something fierce. It's hard to imagine snow in the fall but it happened. So in order to make myself feel better today, I am reminding myself that here in New England, any weather can happen anytime, and I should be thankful that it is raining, and not snowing. But I hope it dosn't mean we won't have foliage like this later on.

Winding up this gorgeous late summer (almost fall) day with a quick dip in the lake. I still can't get Bode to swim (he just wades) but at ten, Ruby could play fetch with the tennis ball for eons. That's my girl. How lucky am I to live just a half-mile from such a great spot?

hello september

Bethlehem, CT

Hello fall! After a brutal summer heat wave that lasted up until about a week or so ago, I welcome fall (just a officially a week away!) I spy an orange leaf, a ripe pumpkin, and a huge sunflower. I had a blast at the Bethlehem fair last weekend, treated myself to a deep fried Oreo (don't knock it till you try it). Hello fall, it's nice to see you again. Thanks Simple Kitchen for being my neighbors!
