Starting to decorate the inside of the house, but waiting till I get back from my quick trip to Chicago before we get the tree. Im going to Chicago (one of my favorite cities) to see a whole bunch of my college friends, as well as celebrate my dear friends baby shower! I can't wait to see everyone. Seeing them all always makes me feel so happy. We mostly laugh till we cry, eat really good food, and reminisce about our college days. No one (except maybe my sisters) makes me laugh harder.

hello decemeber

Yay! It's December. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. It was chilly here in CT (I'll be sure to post  some images tomorrow of my fun outdoor session with a great family). We warmed up after taking pictures with hot chocolate and candy canes (The girls stirred the peppermint sticks in the hot chocolate and said it tasted like peppermint bark). Driving around Bethlehem, it is hard not to feel festive, all the white lights are up in town, and the big tree lighting happens on Friday! Happy December everyone! Less than a week till Hanukkah, and countdown to Christmas begins now! Do your kids use Advent calendars ? Ive seen some really cute ones lately on Pinterest. I don't have kids, but would love this one.

a snowy day.

It's really starting to feel like winter here in New England. I mulled cider, planted Paperwhite bulbs in a  galvanized steel tub (I love white flowers in steel or silver), and hung my wreath on the front door. I also put some red bows on my window boxes. Maybe they are a little bright? There's snow on the branches now. I wonder how long it will stay? Long enough for another holiday photo session this weekend?

        I will sign off this week with some images taken over the last few weeks with Instagram. 

        I have been enjoying too many muffins lately. Carrot-raisin, and morning glory are my favorite. 

        I'm looking forward to a wedding at the Mayflower Inn this weekend!

goodbye september

Interrupting the wedding posts to bring you a few snaps of fall. I woke up this morning and realized that October is monday, where did september go?  I am also really excited about a project I was asked to be involved in for the month of October, which some of you may know is breast cancer awareness month. I am loving  all my heirloom tomatos I planted this year. The favorite new one is "yelow taxi", so glorious! I just realized I seem to post many tomato pictures. To think I refused to eat them till I was an adult...

back to my roots

NYC

When I was very young, I was given a camera. I was allowed to walk the neighborhood on my own and I would bring my camera along. The first shots I ever took are of the street sign where I grew up,  the newsstand on the corner of Broadway and 83rd, the restaurants that lined Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues on the Upper West Side. It was the 70's, people got "mugged" (not a term you hear anymore).

Quieted by the touch of a button, frozen in time for a brief moment. Drawn to strangers, the architecture, and what was familiar . I had the opportunity once again yesterday, and I felt a bit nostalgic. For the city (my city).

The daisies are here!

a rainy day gives way to lilacs

After months of a draught here in the north-east were finally getting some much needed rain. For a gardner this is a true joy. The lilacs have arrived (my favorite) spring bloom, alongside the lilly of the valley.

I had a nice long cab ride the other day; from the upper west side to battery park . I usually take the subway, so it's rare I get to see the city above ground  from 90th all the way down the WEST SIDE HIGHWAY. I was a bit stressed because of traffic (being that I was on my way to a wedding). So I decided to go with the flow, and take out my iPhone and snap some pictures. For some reason I like the idea of seeing things though a window, it creates an instant frame. Although the city was pissing me off a little bit on Friday (too many tourists downtown and too few taxis) .  I still love you New York
