here comes summer

A few beach essentials.

1. A cozy beach blanket // 2. A boho gauze shirt // 3. Polka dot bikini

4. a great Straw tote  // 5. Denim cut-offs // 6. Black skinny flip flops

7. Organic sunscreen // 8. Nice lip balm with SPF

With the unofficial start of summer approaching us this Memorial Day weekend  I thought I would post some beach staples, rather then my usual weekend links. I welcome languid lazy afternoons in the hammock, followed by a tall glass of ice tea loaded up with mint from the garden, ice cream for dinner, and bare feet. June 1 is my birthday and all I want is a beach day. Here's what I did last year on my birthday, It will be hard to beat. I've already planned a few trips to the beach this summer, and couldn't be happier. What are your go-to beach items? Also, just a side note, Goggle reader will be extinct shortly, so if you are following me on blogger, make sure to switch over with Bloglovin .

Have a fun Memorial day weekend! xo-kate

beach days

I'm feeling nostalgic this morning. I have been scanning some film images, and this particular one is of my niece, who is in high school now! Taken in Martha's Vineyard. I thought I would share this, as it is one of my favorites. Happy Monday all! xoxo-kate.

Nikon FG-20

Lets backtrack a bit, shall we? I finally had the roll of film developed that I shot all the way back from Thanksgiving. I wanted to pick up my original film camera. I shot the last roll of Kodak b&w film I had-they don't make it any longer, so I kind of held on to to it forever mostly for nostalgia. Most of these were taken in Ipswich, Massachusetts, on little neck, where we spent Thanksgiving. I just sort of wandered off by myself one morning and drove to the furthest point I could towards the water, and I couldn't go any further (later finding out it is called Little Neck). It was cool and somewhat windy, but I jumped out and took those few shots.  They are so grainy and moody, I think. The film was probably ten years old, so who knows about the quality, but it was mostly for nostalgia's sake. So mission completed.

malibu pier

I love the light in southern California, it's so different from the east coast (in our winters especially). I took these shots in Malibu in 2012 just before sunset . This week seems to be escape week for me, dreaming of warmer weather somewhere else. Have  a lovely weekend!

stairway to heaven

These are the steps that lead to Crane beach, one of my favorite New England beaches . Hanging out here with my beautiful nieces last week was such a treat! If you look closely you can barely make out the poem that is painted onto to the steps. I cherish it!

rockport, MA

Who doesn't love a New England seaside town, sprinkled with art galleries, fudge and ice cream shops, tiny nooks and alleys that lead you into the sea? This is Rockport  Massachusetts, nestled into the North Shore of Cape Ann. It is a perfect little "walk around" town. And also a nice thing to do when the weather is stormy and you can't go to the beach.  Lucky us, (I had a bunch of my nieces and their friends) we squeezed in an hour and half of stumbling around before the storm hit us, then we jumped into the car and drove to Essex, where we had the best fried clams ever--if you want the real deal you have to go to Woodmans--where supposedly fried clams were invented....

lost at sea

Hi all. Just a quick post before I retire...a long week, but I wanted to give you a  peek of where I have been: working a little, and enjoying a little lot, and spending time with family. Now it's back to reality, which means editing, meeting with my brides, and getting back into the swing of things. More posts and images to follow.

Happy summering!

Malibu

Hanging out in Malibu is definitely my favorite thing to do in southern California. I love Malibu Seafood (the fish tacos are a must). Watched the sunset, feet in sand at two different beaches, Must stop next time for cocktails at sunset at Paradise cove!
