I love the light in southern California, it's so different from the east coast (in our winters especially). I took these shots in Malibu in 2012 just before sunset . This week seems to be escape week for me, dreaming of warmer weather somewhere else. Have  a lovely weekend!

california mission

I visited a beautiful mission when I was in California last year and am finally getting around to looking at some of my personal pictures from this trip. I love the architecture and colors. I would love the opportunity to visit more missions, and photograph them on my next trip.  I so needed to post something warm and sunny in this freezing January weather! I'll post some more sunny shots as I sort through them in the next week or so. Till than, bundle up buttercups!

 (2nd bottom ) to the random rides (very cool bikes on a college campus) to of course, the birds of paradise, and palms. Had a great trip, and can't wait to get back. And lastly, the iconic LAX , Adios for now.

The Getty

The Getty, Los Angeles


By far one the highlights of my recent LA trip was a visit to the Getty. From the start, going up on the tram, to first statues. The best thing about this museum is the sculptural and architectural detail (if you are going for the indoor permanent collection you may be disappointed). However I lucked out and saw a good modern photography exhibit and picked up some cute stuff at the gift shop. By far the most wonderful thing was that we went on a clear blue sky (no smog) day. The architecture and outdoor gardens were breathtaking. It is definitely a place you could wander around for hours, bring a picnic, and take in all the sculptural elements. Big thumbs up!

Malibu

Hanging out in Malibu is definitely my favorite thing to do in southern California. I love Malibu Seafood (the fish tacos are a must). Watched the sunset, feet in sand at two different beaches, Must stop next time for cocktails at sunset at Paradise cove!
