bantam bread

Have you been to Bantam Bread? If you live in Litchfield County, near Bantam/Litchfield, you have passed by the bakery on route 202 a million times and though it is a little bit hard to see (tucked behind a house along the Bantam river) it is worth the drive. Located at 853 Bantam Road, Bantam, CT 06750. This tiny little bakery, is straight out of a story book. It has the best fresh bread, cheeses and other locals goodies (like honey + goats milk soaps). If you want to hear the story of how it all began, you can read about it here.  One of the popular treats is something they make called "the bomb". A sugary-Cinnamon round ball of deliciousness, not quite a doughnut, not really a pastry (promise a picture next time, but I eat them in the car before I even get home so they are gone). But you have to go on the early side to make sure they have them still. Pictured above is the Holiday Bread, a favorite, but the calamata olive sourdough bread is also a favorite. For a full list of all the breads you can look at the menu here.  Best part, it's open year round!

I wrote  a blog post last year about The two CEO's of Manolo Blahnik who started a dairy, and opened  a local ice cream shop in Bantam too. in case you missed it.
